A whole cape just for you

Hessula is a two-storey planed log villa for six persons, located in a peaceful cape on its own. In Hessula, you can enjoy both the sunsets and sunrises. The views are towards a deep-water channel and the Liehtalanniemi Museum Estate. Electricity and running water allow you to take it easy on your holiday.

The villa accommodates six persons. There is one bedroom with two beds downstairs. Upstairs, there are separate sleeping nooks. A loft creates a sense of spaciousness and can be used e.g. as a children’s play area. The dining table is located in front of a bay window with plenty of natural light. Hessula’s location is especially dog-friendly.

In addition to an indoor sauna, there is a separate outdoor sauna in Hessula. Both saunas are traditional, wood-heated saunas.

As all of our villas, Hessula is in a private location on the shore of Lake Saimaa. The private beach, wood-heated sauna, and rowing boat are at your disposal without any extra fees during your holiday.

The cottage is available from your arrival day at 3 pm to midday on your departure day.
You can bring your own bed linen and towels or rent them from us for €13 per person. You can perform the departure cleaning by yourself (vacuum cleaning, surface wiping, taking out the trash) or order the cleaning from us for €120.

Feature description
Hessula is equipped with electricity, running water (hot&cold), fireplace, television. Hessula has an indoor sauna and a separate outdoor sauna. Both of the saunas are equipped with traditional woodburning stoves. All the firewood is included and more can be found from the woodshed. Bedclothes can be found from the cottage. You can use your own bedlinen, or rent a set from Okkola’s.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to prepare and cook the food you want during your stay. The kitchen includes an electric stove & -oven, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a coffee machine, an electric water boiler, tableware, cookware and basic cooking utensils.

Activities description
The archipelago of Puumala is a perfect place to enjoy the peace of nature. The woodland surroundings of the cottage offer great opportunities to berry-picking and mushrooming. You can as well use a private rowing boat to enjoy lake Saimaa. All guests also have free access to four “kota” -barbecue huts in the area. The local area has several hiking and cycling routes of various lengths, suitable for relaxed activity. Services
The nearest markets, a pharmacy and a liquor store can be found from the centre of Puumala. Puumala’s cafés and restaurants serve you year-round. The nearest shopping centres, department stores and hypermarkets are in the closest cities: Mikkeli and Imatra.
Traffic connections
All of our villas and cottages are located in Niinisaari -island, connected to the mainland by a ferry. The Hätinvirta -ferry is free of charge and it runs when needed, around the clock and at all times of the year. The ferry has four 20 -minute breaks a day: 9:00-9.20, 12.00-12.20, 17.00-17.20 and 20.00-20.20.
Driving instructions
There are signs “OKKOLAN LOMAMÖKIT” from the main road 62.

When approaching from Mikkeli, drive the main road 62 across the Puumala bridge. A kilometre after the bridge turn to the right towards “Niinisaari”.

When approaching from Imatra, turn to the left from the main road 62 a kilometre before the Puumala bridge towards “Niinisaari”.

Stay on the archipelago road for 6 kilometers, then turn to the right towards Lintusalo, Niinisaari. After driving 1km you’ll arrive to the ferry. Park your car behind the white lane and turn off the headlights of the car. Lock the parking brake, keep the headlights turned off and stop the engine on the ferry. After the ferry drive to the top of the hill and turn to the right to Okkola’s. You can park your car in front of the restaurant Niinipuu.

The reception serves you in restaurant Niinipuu in summer time, in other seasons in the green main building on the left side of the restaurant.

The reception is located in Okkola’s main building, where the owner-family lives as well. When you arrive we will personally welcome you and hand out the keys to the cottage. In the summertime, restaurant Niinipuu serves you local Finnish food.

You can find two grocery markets, a pharmacy, a liquor store and a wide selection of services in the centre of Puumala. Cafés and restaurants serve you year-round.
